The Top 4 Sizing Questions
1. How do I know what size skis I need?
Most people think ski length is all about your height. It’s not. What really matters is how you ski, where you ski, and how much force you’re putting into the ski.
Our size calculator looks at the full picture—not just height and weight, but also your ability level and skiing style. It gives you a smart starting point, but not some one-size-fits-all number.
Once you’re in the right range, it comes down to time on snow and figuring out what feels right for you.

2. Does my weight matter?
Yep, more than most people think. Your weight affects how much pressure you put into the ski, which changes how it flexes, turns, and responds.
Two skiers the same height but with different body weights might need totally different lengths to get the same performance. That’s why our calculator factors it in—so you don’t end up on noodles (or planks).
Think of it less like a hard rule and more like a dial we use to fine-tune your range.
3. Do I need wide (fat) skis?
Probably not—but it depends on where you’re skiing and what kind of terrain you like.
Wide skis (like 100mm+ underfoot) float better in powder but can feel sluggish on groomers. If you spend most of your time off-piste, a wider ski might make sense. But going too wide can make turn initiation harder, especially on firmer snow.

4. Is ski size really that important?
Yeah—it actually is.
Too short, and your skis might feel twitchy or unstable at speed. Too long, and they can feel like a handful to control, especially in tight terrain. The right size helps your skis respond the way they’re meant to—so you’re not fighting them every turn.
It won’t magically make you ski better, but it will make it easier to ski better. And more fun. Which is kind of the point, right?
If you’re between sizes or just not sure, that’s what we’re here for.

What size skis should I buy?
It depends on your height, weight, ability, and where you like to ski. Our calculator takes all that into account and gives you a solid starting range. From there, it’s about dialing in what feels best on snow.
My skis feels too short (or too long). Did I mess up?
Not necessarily. Sizing isn’t an exact science—conditions, ski type, and your style all play a role. If something feels off, it doesn’t mean you blew it. It just might mean you’re outside your ideal range. Reach out—we’ll help you figure it out.
Should I size up or down?
f you like going fast, skiing steep terrain, or want more stability, sizing up can help. If you’re after control, quick turns, or just getting more comfortable on skis, sizing down might feel better. There’s no one right answer—but our calculator gets you close.
How important is weight?
Very. Your weight affects how the ski flexes and responds. Two skiers the same height can need totally different lengths depending on how much pressure they put into the ski. That’s why we factor it in—it matters more than most people think!
Do men and women size skis differently?
Yes, women’s skis are usually designed with anatomical and physiological differences in mind—like generally lighter weight distribution and different body proportions. These factors can influence ski flex, stiffness, and how the ski feels.
Because of this, women’s skis often run a bit softer or shorter than men’s skis of the same length. But at the end of the day, your height, weight, skill, and style matter most. Don’t get too hung up on gender labels—go with what feels right for you.
Can I size down for park?
Absolutely. Park and freestyle skiing usually calls for shorter skis—they’re easier to spin, press, and maneuver. Just don’t go so short that you lose stability on landings or at speed.
Do different ski brands size differently?
Kind of. Most brands follow similar sizing guidelines, but ski shape, flex, and intended use can make the same length feel different across models. That’s why sizing isn’t just about numbers—it’s about how the ski rides.
If in doubt, check the manufacturers own size chart.
Is there even such a thing as the perfect size?
Nope. The “perfect” ski size is a moving target—what works great for you today might change with your skill, weight, or the snow you’re skiing. Our calculator gets you in the ballpark, but the best size is the one that feels right when you’re ripping down the mountain.
